🌼NATARAJASANA (DANCER) POSE TIPS🌼

Dancer pose is a prana-building, heart-opening posture that challenges your balance & focus, and stretches your quads, hamstrings, & shoulders.

Check out some of the tips above to feel the benefits of this pose! Some additional hints that might help:

-Imagine touching your shoulder blades together across your back.

-You don’t have to lift your knee to the ceiling! Try pushing your foot into your hand while keeping your thigh parallel to the floor.

-Use a strap around your ankle if it’s challenging to grab your foot.

-To get the same benefits with a more gentle approach, you can try grabbing over the top of your toes, and reaching your heel toward your butt.

-You might decide to practice Prana Mudra with your free hand by connecting your thumb, ring, and pinky fingers together, and extending your peace fingers. Prana Mudra is meant to boost your vitality, energy, and inner fire.

Keep in mind that YOUR Dancer pose might look different than someone else’s, and that’s completely ok. As long as it feels good, you’re doing it right. 👍

You already know what to do 😋 Ready, set�….. start guessing!! Guesses must be in by midnight on 4/30!

Blocks may have a reputation for making poses more accessible, but did you know you can also use blocks to feel more in your stretch?

I know you already know, but remember that yoga isn’t about achievement or forcing yourself into a strenuous stretch for “progress”. That’s not the point of this video.

Since every body is unique in its needs, I just wanted to offer some variations that MAY feel good for you. Take it or leave it!

It was a beautiful day for so many people to be outside, moving & enjoying the body they’re in.

Q: Share something fun or interesting about you.
A: I was a fitness instructor in the 80s and 90s and was one of the first to teach step aerobics and spin classes. I also taught hip hop dance classes!

Q: How did your yoga journey begin?
A: I was heavily into dance from my teenage years and part of dance is yoga and Pilates… I started my formal practice when I took classes at a health spa in the Berkshires over 20 years ago.

Q: In your opinion, what is the best thing about yoga?
A: I love the way yoga is like a moving meditation, the combination of breath and movement helps me relax while improving flexibility and strength at the same time. I love Kayla’s mandala flows, they feel like a choreographed dance!

Q: What is your favorite pose and why?
A: I love balance postures like eagle, crow, or dancer… because I love to challenge myself and it makes me feel empowered when I can hold a balance posture!

Have you taken a class with Pam? You will normally catch her doing amazingly precise chaturangas in a hot Vinyasa class...
